Tidying up the finding aid

Last Friday I made some corrections to my finding aid, changed some formatting, and updated the folders with the catalogue number.  It was satisfying to pull together all of the information, summarizing the contents and history, as well as tying together the provenance, use guidelines and so on that make up a finding aid.

I have been doing a lot of research using the Library of Congress collection summaries online, and have gotten sucked in to reviewing their finding aids and manuscript collection box lists.  It’s really fascinating, if you’re into the whole archival scene, and it’s helped me see what makes a really good finding aid.

This Friday I should be starting a new manuscript collection.
